CEPC showcases Indian carpets at Heimtextil 2025 Trade Fair

Srinagar: The Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) participated in Heimtextil 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for home and textiles, held from January 14 to 17.

The event showcased India’s unparalleled expertise in handmade carpets and rugs, highlighting the country’s vibrant craftsmanship and diversity.

More than 500 participants from India’s textile industry attended the event, including approximately 100 exhibitors specifically from the carpet and rugs sector. Prominent centers like Bhadohi, Panipat and Jaipur were well-represented, underscoring India’s stronghold in the global handmade carpet market.

The Indian Pavilion at Heimtextil 2025 was inaugurated by the Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, in the presence of Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and B.S. Mubarak, Consul General of India in Frankfurt, Germany.

Other attendees included Kuldeep Raj Wattal, Chairman, CEPC; Sanjay Gupta, Shaukat Khan and Rohit Gupta, Members of the COA, CEPC; and Dr. Smita Nagakoti, Executive Director (Officiating), CEPC. The dignitaries expressed their appreciation for the exceptional range of designs, particularly the innovative jute-based carpets.

In his address at a dinner hosted by Bharat Tex 2025, Giriraj Singh remarked, “The world is now focusing on India to meet its textile requirements,” emphasizing India’s growing prominence in the global textile industry.

Heimtextil 2025 serves as a premier platform for promoting India’s handmade carpets and rugs, with all Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) joining forces to showcase the country’s rich textile heritage. Carpets and rugs, reflecting India’s unmatched craftsmanship, were prominently displayed in Hall 3.0 and Hall 5.0. CEPC hosted 46 participants in Hall 3.0, presenting an exquisite collection of handmade carpets and rugs. Additionally, other exhibitors participating directly further enriched the vibrant display.

The event featured over 3,000 exhibitors from 65 countries, reinforcing Heimtextil’s status as a vital hub for textile interior design. The introduction of Heimtextil Trends 25/26, curated by Milan-based design platform Alcova, offered innovative and sustainable solutions. These trends, spectacularly showcased in the Trend Arena at Hall 3.0, explored material qualities, colors, and groundbreaking production processes.

Adding to the event’s allure, a dedicated Carpet Trend Pavilion was set up in Hall 5.1, drawing significant attention from international buyers, interior designers, and retailers.
